Shotō Finished

Description
Small game made as final group assignment of the Videogame Design and Programming course at Politecnico di Milano. It is an atmospheric sailing adventure that invites players to explore a sprawling archipelago aboard a customizable sailboat. Blending physics-based navigation with resource management mechanics, the game challenges players to master wind currents and tides to travel between islands. The experience focuses on a relaxing but engaging core loop: traversing the ocean, discovering new towns, and completing a collection of fish to trade for vessel upgrades.
My Work
I was the group manager, since the idea was originally mine, and my main role was that of organizing the project development, making sure we developed what we wanted and on time, and managing communication between the team members, some of which were programmers and some artists.
I programmed several parts of the game, including the entire dialog system, part of the quest and inventory system, part of the navigation system and part of the fishing system.
I also worked as the writer of the game, designing the storyline (what little there is), the dialogs of all the characters and the map layout.
What I Learnt
- Unity, how it works and how to make it do what you want it to do
- How to manage a team with people from different backgrounds and with different ideas on how the game should be
