Program Overview

Recipient of the Amancio Ortega Foundation Scholarship, a merit-based program that selects 500 students from across Spain to study in North America. I completed Grade 11 at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in Red Deer, Alberta.

This immersive experience required full integration into the Canadian education system and living with a host family, demanding a high level of adaptability, independence, and English fluency.

Academic Achievements

  • Achieved a final average mark of 91/100 across all subjects (including all extracurricular activities).
  • Successfully passed Alberta’s Grade 12 Diploma Examinations for English Language Arts 30, Science 30, and Mathematics 30-2, exceeding the standard curriculum for my grade level.
  • Took all courses in English and studied two additional languages from it: French and Japanese.

Extracurricular Activities

  • Cast member of the school’s musical production of Urinetown, involving rigorous rehearsal schedules for acting, singing, and dancing.
  • Active member of the Improvisational Theatre team, participating in regional and national tournaments.
  • Directed a short play (“The Bear” by Anton Chekhov) and acted in peer productions as part of Theatre 20 and 30 courses.
  • Member of the school choir, performing in local and regional recitals.
  • Joined the school band as a percussionist in the second semester.
  • Completed a Sign Language course focused on SEE (Signing Exact English) to communicate with disabled students.
  • Member of the school’s D&D club.
